  • 4 large cooking apples (Bramley preferred)
  • 2 cups blackberries (wild or cultivated)
  • 4 tbsp Demerara sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 ¼ cups self-rising flour
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter (or vegan alternative)
  • 10 Biscoff biscuits (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Peel, core, and slice the apples. Place them in a pie dish and toss with lemon juice, Demerara sugar, ground cinnamon, and flour.
  2. Gently fold in blackberries and dot with cold butter cubes. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix self-rising flour, golden caster sugar, and ground cinnamon. Rub in cold butter until crumbly.
  4. Remove the apple mixture from the oven and sprinkle crumble evenly on top. Bake uncovered for an additional 30 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with your choice of ice cream or custard.
